WELCOME BACK REUNION – The Wise County Old Settlers Reunion is officially under way today at the Wise County Reunion Grounds in Decatur. The Little Mr. and Miss Pageant for ages 6 months to 9 years is 7 p.m. at the pavilion. This year’s theme is “Gumdrops and Lollipops.” Applications are available at DATCU, Decatur Chamber of Commerce, North Texas Bank and Chalet of Jewelry. VOTING BEGINS TODAY – Today is the first day of early voting for the Republican and Democratic primary runoff elections. The Republican ballot includes Precinct 2 constable candidates Mike Andrews and Larry Short as well as U.S. senator, two railroad commissioner races and Place 4 supreme court justice. The Democratic ballot features only U.S. senator. Early voting in both primaries is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Friday at the Decatur Civic Center (2010 W. U.S. 380), Rhome City Hall (105 First St.) and the Bridgeport Law Enforcement Center (1000 Thompson St.).
CHEER CAMP – Cheer camp for Decatur youth is Thursday and Friday at Victory Christian Academy. Girls in kindergarten through third grade will attend 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and fourth through sixth graders 2 to 6 p.m. Cost is $40. WEATHER NOTES – Saturday’s high temperatures reached 104 degrees at the Decatur Municipal Airport and 108 at the Bridgeport Municipal Airport, and we were at or near the century mark again on Sunday. The forecast for today calls for temperatures just short of 100 with a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm this afternoon. A brief storm brought wind damage to parts of New Fairview Saturday afternoon with reports of some homes losing some shingles, siding and underpinning.
