SNOW’S OVER, FOLKS – Wise County residents woke up to a find a light dusting of snow on the ground after a thin band of snow flurries passed through this morning in the 4 o’clock hour. No snow accumulated on paved surfaces, meaning roadways were clear for drivers. But after unseasonably warm weather the past few weeks, we’re reminded that winter’s just around the corner. Today’s high is expected to be near 42 with a north wind of 5 to 15 miles per hour with gusts as high as 25 miles per hour. Overnight, the low is expected to dip to around 23. The temperature at 7:45 a.m. today was 27 degrees.
CHASING THE TITLE – Brothers Tuf and Clif Cooper have combined to win three of the first four rounds in tie-down roping at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. After Tuf won the first round Thursday, older brother Clif got hot and won Friday night with a time of 7.3 seconds. Tuf tied for second that night with 7.5. And in the fourth round on Sunday, Tuf won the night with 7.8. With the win he leapt into first in the rankings and strengthened his chances to earn a second consecutive world title.

TAPS SHUTTLE SURVEY – TAPS Public Transit, a major regional provider of public transportation services, is asking Wise County residents for input on the need for an airport shuttle service. TAPS already provides demand response, point-to-point shuttle bus service in Wise County, and transit officials are considering adding an airport shuttle to and from DFW and Love Field airports. Wise County residents can share their opinion about the proposed airport shuttle service by taking the eight-question survey online at www.TAPSbus.com/survey. Results of the survey will be published on Dec. 15.
SCV MEETING – The Sons of Confederate Veterans will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Wesley Center of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Kerry Clower and The Horton Brothers and Friends will play Christmas music. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. December breakfast is the 19th at the Decatur Civic Center.

BOARD MEETING – The Northwest School Board meets 7 tonight to discuss course additions and deletions for the 2013-2014 school year. During the reports part of the meeting, the board will discuss the process for submitting names for elementary school No. 17 and high school No. 4.
ANGELS AWAITING ADOPTION – As of Friday, 101 Spirit of Christmas Angels remained on the campaign’s trees in Alvord (11), Boyd (25), Chico (24) and South Wise (41) to be adopted. The deadlines to turn gifts in range from today to Friday. The Decatur and Bridgeport campaigns, which used a voucher system, wrapped up last week. SENIOR CARE ANGELS – Senior Care Center and Rehab in Bridgeport has an angel tree in need of adoptions. Each angel represents 117 residents and includes a list of possible gifts for each resident. These gifts will be given to residents on Christmas morning. Angel gifts need to be turned in by Dec. 21 to Activity Director Patricia Henson or to the front office. Gifts should be wrapped with the angel list taped on the gift.
