FOOTBALL FINALE – Tonight is the last night of the high school football regular season. The lineup includes Gainesville at Bridgeport, Sanger at Decatur, Whitesboro at Boyd, Paradise at Ponder, Keller Central at Northwest, Alvord at City View and Trenton at Chico. RUNNING TO STATE – The state cross country meet is Saturday in Round Rock, and Wise County will be well represented. Local teams include the Paradise girls (first at regionals), Decatur girls (second at regionals) Alvord girls (third at regionals) and Decatur boys (first at regionals). Individually, Northwest’s Katherine Chavez placed first at regionals and Zach Kirkland placed ninth at regionals to both advance.

QUILT RAFFLE – The Wise County Historical Society will raffle a quilt donated to the museum by the Wise County Quilt Guild. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and are available at the museum. The drawing is Thursday, Nov. 15, but you do not need to be present to win.

SOCKS FOR SENIORS – Donate pairs of new, adult socks for residents in area nursing homes at Market Place in Decatur from now until Dec. 22. Market Place personnel will distribute them for Christmas.

TALENT SHOW – The Wise Country Fall Out is 7 p.m. Saturday at the Wise County Heritage Museum. Thirteen contestants will compete for first, second and third place. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children age 5 to 12, and children 4 and under free.

SHELTER CLOSED SATURDAY – The Wise County Animal Shelter will be closed tomorrow in observance of Veterans Day, and it will have new hours starting next week. Beginning Nov. 13, the shelter will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

CELEBRATING VETERANS – Veterans Appreciation Day is tomorrow in Rhome. A formal veterans ceremony is 11 a.m. to noon in the Veterans Park, and speaker is Congresswoman Kay Granger. Festivities continue 1 to 5 p.m. with free hot dogs, drinks and live music at the Family Park where veterans’ photos will be displayed.

VETERANS DAY PROGRAM – The Wise County Veterans Group will conduct their annual Veterans Day program at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wise County Veterans Park in Decatur. The guest speaker for the program will be State Representative Phil King.

HONORING VETERANS – Alvord High School will host a Veterans Day program 10 a.m. Monday in the high school gym. All Wise County veterans and community members are invited. Veterans should report to the high school library at 9:30 a.m.

SHARED MEAL – Balsora Baptist Church invites the public to their annual community Thanksgiving dinner Sunday at 108 CR 3623, outside Bridgeport. King’s River will play at 4 p.m., and the meal is at 5:30 p.m. Call (940) 748-2527 for more information or visit www.balsora.net.

OFFICES CLOSED – Wise County offices will be closed Monday in observance of Veterans Day.

MEET THE PLAYERS – Maroon Madness is 6 p.m. Monday at the Bridgeport High School gym. The 2012-2013 Bridgeport basketball players will be introduced.

WARM CLOSED – Wise Area Relief Mission (WARM) is closed today for an out-of-town meeting. Regular distribution hours of 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday will resume next week.

BOOK SALE – The last day of the Decatur Public Library book sale is Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Books are $1 a bag during the final hour of the sale. Call (940) 393-0290 for more information.

GRAVESIDE service for Jack Keener, 77, of Southlake is noon today at Aurora Cemetery. Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd is handling arrangements.

GRAVESIDE service for Terry R. Miller, 63, of Boyd is 10 a.m. Saturday at Boyd Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Christian-Hawkins.

MEMORIAL service for Leonard V. Placker Jr., 66, of Newark is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Christian-Hawkins is handling arrangements.

MEMORIAL service for Jack Eison, 78, of Runaway Bay is 10 a.m. Saturday at Runaway Bay Community Church. Family visitation is before and after the service. Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

GRAVESIDE service for Ernest “Burt” Lancaster, 84, of Bridgeport is 11 a.m. Saturday at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 tonight at Hawkins-Bridgeport.

FUNERAL for Karl E. Troutt, 61, of Decatur is 12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at DFW National Cemetery with family visitation at 9 a.m. Monday at Jeter and Son Funeral Home in Dallas.
