SCHOOL SECURITY – The Alvord ISD board last night heard a report that new safety vestibules are just about in place at the high school and elementary campuses. The vestibules, designed to channel visitors through the office, are similar to one already in place at the middle school. They were being fabricated off-site and were due to be installed Friday. Superintendent Bill Branum said about another $45,000 would be needed to address the most pressing security concerns at all the campuses – but admitted that to fully secure the entrances at all AISD campuses could cost as much as $100,000. That cost could come down, he said, depending on how many doors would have to be replaced to install a card-reader system.
