Runaway Bay and Bridgeport firefighters quickly responded to and extinguished a small fire in the Shell gas station on U.S. 380 in Runaway Bay. The fire was reported around 1 Wednesday morning.

When Bridgeport Fire Chief Terry Long, the first responder on scene, arrived, he noted the doors were wide open and light smoke was showing.

After a quick search, the fire was located, and Runaway Bay units arrived shortly thereafter and contained the small fire.

The extent of the damage and cause of the fire are unknown.
