A hearing regarding the temporary suspension of Precinct 4 County Commissioner Terry Ross is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14. The hearing date was filed in the district clerk’s office Monday morning. Judge Roger Towery, with the 97th District Court of Texas, was assigned to the case. He was appointed by Judge Jeff Walker, who presides over the 8th Administrative Judicial Region of Texas.

Two months ago Ross was indicted by a grand jury for tampering with government records and abuse of official capacity. The indictment indicates Ross built a playhouse on public property, used county employees on county time to help build the structure and used building components or electrical supplies purchased with county money to build the playhouse.

Citizen Lane Akin filed the petition for removal of office June 27.
