Thanks to a quick-acting bus driver, four students at Decatur’s Carson Elementary are safe Thursday night after a bridge collapsed under their school bus and left it perched perilously above fast-moving waters. The accident happened around 4 p.m. on Heritage Creek Drive about a mile north of County Road 4421. Runoff from Wednesday’s heavy rains, washed out the bridge’s support structure.
