A man was flown to a Metroplex hospital following a three-vehicle wreck at 8 a.m. Monday morning on Farm Road 51 a mile north of Decatur. Department of Public Safety Trooper William Cooper said John Powell, 28, of Decatur was driving a passenger car and was stopped behind a water well drilling truck waiting to make a left turn into a private driveway and a white pickup behind the drilling truck. Cooper said a blue pickup driven by Marilyn Gutierrez, 20, of Krum struck Powell’s vehicle from behind, forcing it into the white pickup, driven by James Laird, 51, of Madill, Okla. Powell was flown from the scene. Laird and Gutierrez were not seriously injured. Traffic was reduced to one lane while the accident was cleared and shut down while the helicopter was on the scene.
