York, Hunter, Hightower join 7A all-district team

After passing for 2,631-yards, Chico’s Hunter York picked up first-team all-district 7-A quarterback honors this week. He led the state in Class A Division I passing yards and led the Dragons to a six-win season.

York was joined on the first-team offense by two other Dragons, Dylan Hightower and Chris Young.

Hightower was named as a first-team wide receiver after having 47 receptions for 898 yards and eight touchdowns.

Young took home first-team offensive lineman honors.

On the defensive side of the ball Tyler Byers was named first-team defensive lineman after recording 78 tackles, six sacks, scooping up two fumble recoveries and forcing four fumbles.

Marshall Anderle rounded out the first-team for Chico. He was named first team outside linebacker along with Lindsay’s Elijah Walker. Anderle recorded 90 tackles and one interception.

Lindsay and Valley View dominated the superlative awards while Collinsville quarterback John Lewis was named the District MVP.

Lindsay’s Austin Bird was named Defensive Newcomer of the Year and Justin Ott picked up Offensive Newcomer.

Valley View’s Gabriel Blankenau was awarded Defensive MVP and the Eagles’ Landon Boaz was Offensive MVP.

Chico’s Darion Riggs was named as a second-team defensive end after recording 75 tackles, four fumble recoveries and seven sacks.

Joe Padilla and Hightower were also named to the second-team defense. York picked up second team punter honors.

Chris Gilmore was named second-team wide receiver, and Byers was a second-team offensive lineman.

Tyler Melton, Jastin McBee, Jimmy Schuetz and Dustin Hardee all were named to the honorable mention team.
