Trio lands on 7-3A first team

Decatur’s Leia Andriotto and Darienne Davis and Bridgeport’s Tabitha Moses recorded their teams’ top batting averages this spring.

Davis led the Lady Eagles with a .593 average with two doubles. Andriotto hit .567 with two doubles and three triples. Moses finished at .390 with 13 RBIs and three doubles.

All three earned first-team District 7-3A infield selections.

Five Lady Eagles and five Sissies earned league honors.

League champion, Burleson Centennial, grabbed four superlative awards. Freshman Madison Thompson took MVP. Ashlee Gibson earned Pitcher of the Year. Brooklynn Vernier was the Newcomer of the Year. Shannon Sullivan was the Coach of the Year.

Mineral Wells sophomore Bethany Allen garnered Offensive Player of the Year. The Defensive Player of the Year went to Mineral Wells junior Chandler Ortiz.

Bridgeport senior Shelbi Mcduffie and sophomore Haley Guinn made the second-team infield. Mcduffie batted .194 with two RBIs and posted an .894 fielding percentage. Guinn hit .347 with a team-high 20 RBIs and eight doubles.

Decatur seniors Beca Thele and Vicky Mayo were also second-team infielders. Thele hit .333. Mayo, who pitched the bulk of the innings for the Lady Eagles, batted .300.

Bridgeport senior Lindsey Walker and Decatur junior Macky Dailey earned second-team outfield spots. Walker hit .206 with eight RBIs. Dailey posted a .322 average as the Lady Eagles’ leadoff hitter.

Bridgeport’s Brooke Bennett, Rachel Casillas and Hayley Davidson, as well as Decatur’s Madison Minor and Brianna Carter, received honorable mention.
