Northwest is off to a tremendous 2-0 start to their district schedule and will look to make it three straight wins during homecoming week.
The Texans (4-1, 2-0) host the Haltom Buffaloes (2-3, 1-1) at Northwest ISD Stadium Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Northwest used a strong second half to overtake Fossil Ridge last week.
“We just started playing pretty good,” Northwest coach Bill Patterson said about the strong second half. “It was somebody we had not beaten, but we stayed tough. It was a good win for us.”
Defensively the Texans had a great game against the Panthers and will look for another great effort this week against Haltom.
The Buffaloes destroyed Richland, 49-6, last week with their potent rushing attack. They fell to Timbercreek, 44-21, in the first week of district play. According to Patterson, quarterback Travis Danford will be the majority of the Haltom offense.
“He is a good football player,” Patterson said. “If they get the ball they keep it. We’ve got to get them off the field.”
Northwest will face homecoming distractions as they attempt to keep their district run going.
“I worry about everything,” Patterson said. “Everything is a distraction to me. The kids have been focused all year. But there is always something going on.”
