The Northwest Texans show no ill effects from their loss to Southlake last week, as they dominated the Timber Creek Falcons Friday, 52-14.

“This was a big win for us,” said head coach Bill Patterson. “We were able to run the ball and stop them from running. They started to throw the ball and that made them one-dimensional.”

The Texans (6-2, 4-1) used their strong running game to dominate the night, piling up 363 yards on the ground.

The first quarter belonged to the Texans with Cayden Ihrig scoring on a 30-yard field goal to give the Texans and early 3-0 lead.

Draze Lawliss later added to the Texans advantage with a 28-yard scamper to give Northwest a 10-0 lead.

The Falcons (2-6, 2-3) responded with their first touchdown on a 6-yard pass from Taylor Jones to Chris Hernandez.

The Texans answered back with two more rushing touchdowns. A 5-yard from Emmanuel Moore followed by a 50-yard run by Lawliss.

Lawliss would also add a 25-yard touchdown pass to Moore right before the half. Northwest went to the locker room leading 31-7.

Northwest picked up right where they left off in the third quarter. Dakota Chavis scored on a 1-yard run and Dakota Chavis added a 62-yard run for a score, giving the Texans a 45-17 advantage.

Timber Creek was able to get on the board one last time by an 8-yard pass from Jones to Sebastian McMichael early in the fourth quarter.

A 22-yard punt return by Derrick Benson put the Texans on the board for the final time.

The Texans play Richland at Birdville ISD stadium next Friday.
