Northwest’s dreams of its first playoff win were dashed after a crushing loss to Arlington Lamar, 37-30.
They end the season with eight wins. It’s the most they’ve had as a Class 5A school.

The game started strong for the Texans, scoring on their first drive of the game with a 1-yard run by Dakota Chavis.
Lamar came back swinging with an eight-yard touchdown pass from Charlie Baird to Andrew Johnston, followed three minutes later by a 13-yard pass from Baird to Kovonta Mayweather.
The second quarter was the most successful for the Texans, where they outscored Lamar 20-3.
A 1-yard run by Dylan Stubbe was the Texans’ second touchdown of the game, tying the score 14-14.
Lamar then had Ryan Jacobs kick a 30-yard field goal to put their only points on the board for the second quarter.
Chavis ran 47 yards for the next Texans touchdown. Then Lawliss put a 8-yard pass in Stubbe’s hands for the next score.
The Texans received a lucky call twenty seconds before the half. What would have been a 65-yard touchdown by Lamar, was called back due to a penalty.
The third quarter put the Vikings just three points behind with a 22-yard pass from Baird to Mayweather.
In the final quarter, the Vikings took the lead, and the Texans were unable to keep up.
A 20-yard field goal by Jacobs in the first five seconds of the fourth quarter tied the score. Three minutes later, Lamar took the lead by a 28-yard pass from Baird to DaQuan Thomas. They widened the gap with a 43-yard field goal from Jacobs.
Despite a late 37-yard field goal by Cayden Ihrig, the Texans were unable to complete the comeback.
