The Bridgeport Sissies picked up another victory Tuesday, taking care of the Millsap Lady Bulldogs in five games.
Bridgeport rallied to win the match 25-17, 22-25, 25-16, 25-12, 15-13.
“It was a hard-fought win,” Bridgeport coach Rebekah Cumming said. “Millsap definitely did not make it easy. The girls showed more intensity in the last three games of the match than I’ve seen them show all season.
“Mariah Clayton and Tiffany Hawkins showed a lot of leadership on the court and it definitely paid off in the end.”
Clayton led the way for the Sissies with 26 kills, four digs and four blocks. Skylar Shawn finished with six kills, seven assists and eight digs. Sabrina Garza added nine kills and an ace. Hawkins had 37 assists, 11 digs, five kills and four aces.
Over the weekend the Sissies placed fourth in the Kick for Casey Tournament in Jacksboro.
“There was a loss of mental focus throughout the tournament,” Cummings said. “They played well, but it was in spurts. It just wasn’t enough to sustain for a full match. I hope to see more energy across the board as we close out pre-season play in the coming weeks.”
Bridgeport dropped their final game of the tournament to Burkburnett 16-25, 23-25.
The Sissies defeated Forestburg 19-25, 25-9, 25-17.
Breckenridge took down the Sissies in the opening round 25-21, 20-25, 10-25.
