The Paradise Lady Panthers slipped past the Boyd Lady Jackets Thursday at the opening day of the Chico Volleyball Tournament. Paradise won the match in three games 25-21, 20-25, 25-23.
In the deciding game three, momentum constantly changed. Paradise got the biggest lead of the game by either team at 12-8, before the Lady Jackets rallied to tie things at 16-16.
A Lindsay Pellegrini ace gave Boyd a 19-17 lead. The Lady Panthers immediately came storming back, finishing the game on a 6-2 run to clinch the match.
In the second game, Boyd jumped out to an early lead. Paradise stuck close, but Boyd never let the Lady Panthers any closer than two points. The Lady Panthers got to within 22-20 late, but Boyd was able to hold onto the win.
The Lady Panthers jumped out to an 8-1 lead in game one before Boyd rallied back to eventually tie things up at 17-17. Paradise did not give up the lead and took a 23-19 lead with a MaKenna Burt kill on its way to the win.
Burt led Paradise with six kills, three blocks and two aces. Reagan Taylor finished with five kills and four blocks. Kaylee McConnell had seven assists.
Stephanie Jordan added five kills for Boyd while Brooklyn Scarborough added four aces.
Paradise went on to pick up two more wins Thursday at the Chico Tournament. The Lady Panthers defeated Ponder 22-25, 25-18, 25-21.
Burt led with 13 kills, seven assists and five digs. Makala Neighbors had 21 digs and McConnell finished with 12 assists.
In their final game of the day, Paradise defeated Chico 25-14, 25-22. Shelby Bradshaw had 10 kills and two digs. Courtney Kerr finished with 10 kills and two digs. Neighbors added 13 digs.
