Lady Eagles whoop competition

The No. 4 ranked Decatur Lady Eagles continued their torrid pace, with another tournament victory over the weekend.

{{{*}}}The Lady Eagles captured the Nocona Tournament for the third consecutive year and became the first Decatur volleyball team to win back-to-back tournaments.

Makayla Mayfield took home MVP honors while Cooper Martin and Stormi Leonard were named to the all-tournament team.

Decatur won the championship match with a sweep over Holliday 25-18, 25-23.

Mayfield led the way with 11 kills, two aces, a block and 10 digs. Martin finished with 10 kills, an ace and four digs. Caroline Lowery added seven kills, a block, seven digs and an assist.

Stormi Leonard handed out 27 assists.

Earlier in the day Decatur took care of Henrietta 25-16, 22-25, 25-19.

Mayfield had 13 kills, two blocks, two aces and seven digs. Leonard added 29 assists.

The Lady Eagles made easy work of Iowa Park 25-12, 25-14.

Mayfield had nine kills, an ace and four digs. Lowery added eight kills, two blocks and seven digs. Annie Parks nailed down three aces.

Decatur will host a dual match Saturday against the No.1 team in 3A, Abilene Wylie, and the No. 3 team in 2A, Brock.
