Lady Eagles trounce competition

Five Decatur runners secure top-10 finishes at Reunion Run

The Decatur Lady Eagles dominated the Decatur Reunion Run Saturday, easily taking the 1A, 2A, 3A Division.

With five runners posting top-ten finishes, the Lady Eagles scored 35 points on the course at Decatur’s Joe Wheeler Park.

“The meet went great,” Decatur coach David Park said. “It’s always good competition. We had 64 different schools and 1,700 runners. Our parents and volunteers were awesome, and we had some great weather.”

Nicole Neighbors led the way for Decatur with a fourth-place finish in 12:44.

Jessica Kyle took sixth in 12:54. Nancy Torres placed seventh in 12:58, and Paola Palomo ran a 13-flat for eghth position.

Hope Fuller took 11th Morgan Henry finished 10th in 13:02 as Decatur’s fifth runner.

Lluvia Ramos ran 13:22 for 14th. Georgina Palomo picked up 18th in 13:44.

The Bridgeport Sissies placed fifth with 143 points, and Boyd took sixth with 160 points. Slidell captured tenth with 268.

The Sissies were led by Felicia Coleman, taking 23rd in 13:59. Lacey Erwin was close behind in 24th in 14:02.

Landrie Walsh was 31st in 14:19. Elaina Peyton ran 14:28 for 36th. Sabrina Garza was the fifth runner for the Sissies, finishing 38th in 14:30.

Lauren Stowers took 41st in 14:36. McKenna Myers placed 46th in 14:53.

“The competition at this huge meet was tough,” Bridgeport coach Dayna Hudson said. “We had some girls running with ailments and one of our good runners missing with band competition. However looking back at this same meet in 2011, we are actually very near our times of last year. I am looking forward to see how we improve the next two weeks.”

The Boyd Lady ‘Jackets were led by Heather Beuregard in 17th position.

Jessica Colbert took 20th in 13:51. Jade Moore ran 14:39 for 42nd, and Courtney Sanders was 44th in 14:46.

Abigail Fagan in 14:56 was Boyd’s fifth runner to cross the finish line.

Slidell placed 10th and was led by Lacey Edge in 54th position at 15:18. Caitlin Pruett was 58th in 15:24. Kylie Franklin captured 63rd in 15:45. Codi Crane took 66th in 15:53.

Caitlin Ward was Slidell’s fifth runner with a time of 17:36 in 70th place.
