Lady Eagles finish fourth at meet

In their first swim meet after the Christmas break, the Decatur Lady Eagles brought home a fourth-place finish at the Carrollton-Farmers Branch New Year’s Classic Saturday.

Decatur scored 213 points. Frisco won the meet with 699.

”It was a very fast meet,” said Decatur coach Doris Dennard. “We competed well after having a Christmas break. Some of the times are personal bests.”

The Decatur quartet of Katey Rowden, Reagan Ralston, Audry McCreary and Haley Dennard finished third in the 200-yard freestyle, swimming 1:50.4. The team of Guirnalda Lopez, Baley Phariss, Madison Phariss and Kate Grant took 13th in 2:07.85.

McCreary, Grant, Dennard and Rowden also took third in the 400 freestyle in 4:00.22. Lopez, Baley Phariss, Madison Phariss and Ralston were 11th in 4:45.6.

Rowden finished third in the 50 freestyle in 25.56. Lopez was 24th in the race, swimming 30.93. Baley Phariss took 37th in 33.31.

Rowden finished fourth in the 100 butterfly in 1:06.09. Madison Phariss was 13th in 1:25.02.

Dennard brought home fourth in the 100 freestyle in 58.76. Ralston was 17th in 1:07.45, and Lopez 23rd in 1:09.32.

Dennard took fifth in the 200 freestyle, swimming 2:10.7. Grant was eighth in the event with a 2:21.29.

Grant finished seventh in the 500 freestyle in 6:10.43.

Baley Phariss took 10th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:27.15.

Ralston was 24th in the 200 individual medley in 3:18.41. Madison Phariss took 25th in the 100 backstroke in 1:28.61.

The Decatur boys took 13th with 56 points.

Dosson Lewthwaite finished 13th in the 200 individual medley.

Robert Davila swam 2:23.47 for 18th in the 200 freestyle.

In the 50 freestyle, Daniel Smyers took 19th in 25.77, Logan Huff 20th in 25.83, and Trey Dale 58th in 31.73.

Boyd’s Jake Bryans finished 12th in the 100 freestyle in 55.6. Smyers was 17th in the race in 56.68. Huff was 29th in 59.14, Davila 42nd in 1:05.12, and Dale 59th in 1:16.97.

Bryans finished fifth in the 100 backstroke, swimming 1:01.87. Lewthwaite was 12th in 1:07.23.

Smyers, Dale, Lewthwaite and Huff swam 1:50.37 to finish 12th in the 200 freestyle relay. That quartet was eighth in the 400 freestyle in 3:59.69.
