Another game and another heart-pounding win for the Boyd Yellowjackets. It was the third straight win for Boyd. All three wins were by a total of 13 points.

The Yellowjackets (4-2, 2-0) try to keep their winning ways going this week when they travel to Callisburg (4-1, 0-1).

“We’ve got a program that’s been in a lot of close games,” Boyd coach Brandon Hopkins said. “We have a lot of younger kids on this team, but they’ve seen what’s happened in the past. It trickles down to fight ’til the end.”

For the third straight week Boyd made the plays down the stretch that they needed to. The defense also played a big role with a huge stop as time ran out.

With another big district win against one of the top teams in the district, the Yellowjackets have placed themselves in a terrific position. Boyd has an excellent chance to pick up their third district win before heading into their bye week.

“It would be a big win for us,” Hopkins said about the Callisburg game. “They have a good squad that is going in the right direction. [Clay] McKenzie is one of the best athletes in the district, and they have a lot of good momentum right now.”

Callisburg is coming off their bye week and fell to Pilot Point 20-7 two weeks ago. Boyd beat Pilot Point by five points.

The Wildcats went perfect in pre-district play with wins against Valley View, Henrietta, Tom Bean and Whitewright.
