The loss dropped Alvord to 1-6 on the season and 0-2 in district 5-2A. With the win, Holliday goes to 5-2 on the year and 2-0 in district.
Four first-quarter touchdowns all but sealed the game as Holliday used the passing of Jacob Cole and the running of Sam Sherley to build an insurmountable lead. Cole threw for the first touchdown, a seven-yarder to Brennon Whitaker, and Sherley ran for the next two before Cole hit Andrew Edgin on a 43-yarder. Hunter McCain kicked four PATs in the first 12 minutes.
Another Sherley run midway through the second stanza made it 35-0 at halftime.
Cole scrambled free and ran 63 yards with 7:26 left in the third quarter to end his team’s scoring.
Alvord got on the board less than two minutes later, when Joe Randall barrelled in from 16 yards out. Jose Luna kicked the extra point.
The Bulldogs added another score with just 3:06 left to play in the game, when Brandon Aeling ran it in from 10 yards.
Both teams rushed the ball 36 times, with Holliday gaining 255 yards and Alvord putting up 251. Randall had 102 yards on 16 carries and Casen Baker added 85.
But Holliday’s 191 yards passing dwarfed Alvord’s 51. An interception and a lost fumble also stymied Bulldog drives.
