Eagles take win at Reunion

Even without their full lineup, the Decatur Eagles still picked up a victory Saturday at the 5K course in the boys 4A & 5A Division at the Reunion Run. Decatur totaled 84 points to win the title. Fort Worth Boswell and Denton Guyer tied for second with 102.

Michael and Daniel Smyers were out taking their SAT’s, but the Eagles had plenty of runners take up the slack.

Decatur’s Taylor Clayton led the way with a first place finish. He finished with a time of 15:55.

“We had to bump some JV guys up,” Decatur coach David Park said. “Each of the seven runners ran great. I’m proud of where we are at.”

Travis Kyle took sixth in 16:40. Austin Pool captured tenth in 16:52. Brandon Rivera ran 17:20 for 26th.

Tyler Wilson took 43rd as the Eagles fifth runner in 17:45.

Joaquin Aldape finished 54th in 17:57. Lane Mitchell placed 70th in 18:12.
