The Decatur Eagle golf team captured seventh place at the Jesuit Honors Invitational Nov. 12 at the Honors Golf Club in Dallas.
Decatur shot a team total 340, finishing ahead of several Class 5A schools. Dallas Jesuit picked up the team title with a 311.
Dylan Rottner led the way for the Eagles with a 75. Freshman Drew Jones fired an 84. Eric Gage shot a 90, Cade Lamirand had a 91, and Charlie Shannon turned in a 94.
Rottner tied for second individually in the field of 87 golfers with his three over par 75.
Decatur’s second team finished 14th with a team total 382. Dylan Erwin led the team with a 92. Colton Horton shot a 95 and Jansen Alker had a 97. Kyle Hubbard fired a 98, and Nick Trachta penciled a 102.
Following the tournament, the Eagles are now No. 5 in the state, according to the High School Golf Scoreboard. Decatur’s combined record for the first four tournaments of the year is 47 wins against only eight losses.
The Eagles continue to be well represented in the Class 3A individual rankings with Rottner 14th and Jones 26th as of Nov. 25.
Decatur will compete in four more non-district tournaments prior to the district tournament, which will be held in April.
