Decatur’s first team captured second place with a score of 315. They were just two strokes behind first place finisher, McKinney Boyd. The Eagles second team placed sixth after posting a 354.
Dylan Rottner led the Eagles with an even par round of 72, earning him first-place medalist.
Drew Jones fired a 75 tying him for third, but was moved to fourth position after a scorecard playoff.
Rounding out the first team was Jansen Alker with an 82, Dylan Erwin shot an 86, and Cade Lamirand penciled an 88.
The second team was led by Eric Gage with an 83. Charlie Shannon and Matt Jones both finished with an 89. Colton Horton fired a 93, and Kyle Hubbard shot a 98.
On Sept. 15-16 Jones and Rottner participated in the Bridlewood Junior Championship played at Bridlewood Golf Club in Flower Mound.
Players from Texas and Oklahoma took part in this 36-hole, nationally ranked event. The Texas Junior Golf Tour presented the tournament. Over 85 percent of the boys and 90 percent of the girls playing TJGT will go on to earn scholarships.
Jones shot rounds of 74 and 67, finishing with a 3-under par 141 to win the boys 12-14 division. It was Jones’ second TJGT victory and his third top-five finish at TJGT events.
Rottner tied for fourth in the boys 15-18 division after rounds of 73 and 83. It was Rottner’s best finish at a TJGT event.
The Eagles will be back in action Oct. 22 with the Argyle ISD Tournament at Robson Ranch.
