Eagles hole up in second place

The Decatur Eagles captured their second runner-up finish of the year Wednesday at the Sky Creek Golf Ranch in Keller.

Decaturs had a team total of 324. Class 5A Mansfield placed first with a team score of 311.

The Eagles were led by Drew Jones who won the first-place medalist honors with his 3-over par 75. Dylan Rottner tied for sixth with a 78. Jansen Alker fired an 84. Cade Lamirand and Eric Gage both penciled an 87.

Decatur’s second team finished with a 386. Kyle Hubbard led the way with a 95. Colton Horton and Nick Trachta both shot a 96 and Charlie Shannon fired a 99.

Prior to Wednesday the Eagles were No. 2 in the state according to the High School Golf Scoreboard. Dylan Rottner is the eighth ranked player in Class 3A and Drew Jones is 11th. Jansen Alker ranks 18th and Eric Gage is 19th.

Decatur will conclude their fall schedule Nov. 12 at the Honors Golf Club in Dallas.
