The only thing that can slow down the Chico Dragons right now is themselves.

Chico has been rolling through their competition the last three games, outscoring their opponents in that span, 173-43.

The Dragons (3-1) try to keep it going this week when they host the Gainesville State Tornadoes (0-3). Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.

“We still need to get better at a few areas, but I am pleased with where things are,” Chico coach Stephen Carter said. “We have a tough district schedule coming up.”

This will be the final game before Chico begins their district competition, and Carter says there is still one area he’s concerned about more than any other.

“We have way too many penalties,” Carter said. “We can’t win big ball games with a lot of silly penalties.”

Chico was able to get a lot of younger kids some playing experience last week and should get the opportunity to do the same against the Tornadoes.

Gainesville State has struggled out of the gates, losing all three of their games by a combined score of 107-20.

They fell to Chico’s last opponent, Dallas Academy, 47-0 to begin the season.

Chico beat Dallas Academy 71-13.
