Decatur sweeps Sissies

The Decatur Lady Eagles completed the season sweep of the Bridgeport Sissies with an offensive explosion Tuesday.

The Lady Eagles pounded out 19 hits to win the game 17-4 in five innings.

Decatur outscored the Sissies 30-13 in their two meetings this season.

Decatur scored two in the first, three in the second and three in the third to take an 8-3 lead. The Lady Eagles broke the game open with a nine-run fifth inning.

Brooke Bennett suffered the loss for the Sissies in her final home start. She allowed nine runs – six earned – on nine hits in two and two-thirds innings. Taylor Emola pitched two and one-third, allowing eight runs – seven earned – on eight hits.

Vicky Mayo eaned the win for the Lady Eagles.

Bridgeport managed six hits. Hayley Davidson led the Sissies with two hits, a RBI and two runs scored.

Bridgeport closed out the season Friday at Castleberry. Decatur finished its first season under coach Carly Cloud at home Friday against 7-3A champion Burleson Centennial.
