Decatur basketball to hit big time venue

By Clay Corbett | Published Saturday, October 6, 2012

The Decatur Eagles basketball team recently received an offer they could not refuse.

On Nov. 19 the Eagles will take on Wichita Falls Rider at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Tip off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The Mavericks will follow later that evening with a game against Golden State.

Decatur received an allotment of tickets and still have around 65 left. Price is $50 and is good for both the Eagles game and the Maverick game later that night. For ticket information, call the basketball office at (940)393-7229.

“The kids are really excited about it,” Decatur coach Drew Coffman said. “They get a chance to play then watch the Mavericks that night. They are really pumped about it.”

Coffman received a call from the coach at WF Rider about the opportunity, and he jumped at the chance.

It will be Decatur’s second game of the season and will give them a feel of playing in a big venue.

“It will be a neat atmosphere to play in,” Coffman said. “It should help us down the road if we have to play in another big environment.”

Coffman is no stranger to the AAC. As a player at Texas Tech he played against Ohio State and competed in a Big 12 Tournament at the home of the Mavericks.
