Centennial tops Decatur

Burleson Centennial sent 11 batters to the plate and scored six runs in the first inning Friday on their way to a 16-2 victory over Decatur.

The District 7-3A champions pounded out 15 hits against the Lady Eagles in the season finale.

Centennial’s first six batters of the game reached base and scored. It added a run in each of the second and third innings. The Lady Spartans plated four in the fourth and four in the fifth to close the game.

Decatur scored one in the first and added a run in the fourth. Inez McDaniel drove in a run for the Lady Eagles.

Centennial pitcher Sydney Cox struck out eight and held Decatur to five hits in the win.

Hayley McCullers drove in four runs on three hits for Centennial.
