The injury-riddled Alvord Bulldogs are looking to find their way through the rest of the pre-district schedule.
After defeating Millsap to start the season, the Bulldogs fell to Ponder and without quarterback Jordan Locklear struggled against Krum.
Things won’t get any easier this week for Alvord (1-2) when they travel to Bowie (3-0). Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Locklear is still sidelined with injury. He is expected to be out until district begins Oct. 12.
In his absence, Casen Baker threw for 10 yards and rushed for 71 more against the Bobcats. Alvord only had 193 yards of total offense while giving up 520 yards to Krum.
Joe Randall also got injured early on against the Bobcats, but returned later in the second half.
Randall is expected to be good to go this week. Alvord also expects to get Kyle Rice and Evyn Beasley back.
“I think we had too much on defensively and the kids were thinking too much,” Alvord coach Curtis Enis said. “Instead of playing we just looked slow. We went back and simplified things on both sides of the ball this week.”
Bowie has wins against Hirschi, Lake Worth, and last week against Henrietta.
“They [Bowie] don’t have as much depth as Krum,” Enis said. “They have a good running game and are working on their passing game. They are trying to be balanced.”
The Jackrabbits are playing their final game before they begin district next week against Boyd.
