Bridgeport heads to district with two more wins

The Bridgeport Sissies picked up two more victories to conclude the pre-district schedule Tuesday.

Bridgeport defeated Bryson 25-13, 25-20, 18-25, 25-21. The Sissies then took down Jacksboro 25-14, 13-25, 25-15, 25-19.

“It was a great finish to the pre-season,” Bridgeport coach Rebekah Cummings said. “The girls fought their way out of tough situations and showed a lot of character and teamwork. We are all looking forward to district play.”

Against Bryson, Mariah Clayton finished with 16 kills, seven blocks, four aces and three digs. Sabrina Garza had nine kills, two blocks and an ace. Tiffany Hawkins added 31 assists, 10 kills and 11 digs.

In the Jacksboro game, Clayton notched 22 kills and two aces. Garza had 11 kills and five digs. Tyler Chapa finished with six digs, four kills and an ace. Hawkins added ten digs, ten kills and 37 assists.

The Sissies will host Krum Tuesday.
