Boys Basketball Roundup for February 8

SLIDELL TORCHES SAINT JO

After breaking the century mark in their previous outing, the Slidell Greyhounds threatened to do it again Friday in an 83-19 win over Saint Jo.

Aaron Leake led five Greyhounds (22-6, 8-2) in double figures with 16 points. Dylan Carnes added 13 points. Isaac Davis and Daniel McCasland scored 11 each, and Trent Garrett 10.

The Greyhounds jumped out to a 19-2 lead on Saint Jo and built the advantage to 44-13 at halftime.

Slidell entered Tuesday’s game with Bellevue with a chance to clinch second place in District 17-A Division II.

CHICO 81, VALLEY VIEW 63

The Chico Dragons got back over .500 for the season Friday with an 81-63 victory over Valley View.

Dylan Hightower poured in 32 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Dragons (13-12).

Matt Carter added a double-double of his own with 14 points and 10 boards. Zac Vidal chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds.

NOCONA 57, ALVORD 53

The Alvord Bulldogs’ rally in the fourth quarter fell short in a 57-53 loss to Nocona Friday.

Alvord outscored Nocona 21-16 in the final frame to trim into Nocona’s nine-point lead.

Trevor Hardee poured in 26 points and grabbed 19 rebounds. Casen Baker added 13 points and 17 boards.

KELLER CENTRAL 59, NORTHWEST 39

The Northwest Texans suffered their fourth straight loss Friday, falling to District 7-5A leader Keller Central, 59-39.

The Texans fell to 19-11 and 5-6 in district.

Central went on a 14-6 run in the second quarter to build a 26-18 halftime lead.

Todd Christensen led the Texans with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
