Boyd wins 14/U crown

BRINGING HOME THE TITLE – The Boyd Yellowjackets won the 14-and-under Wise County championship. The Boyd Yellowjackets captured the Wise County 14-and-under baseball title June 9 with a 15-5 win over Decatur Black.

Dylan Powers struck out seven and limited Decatur to five runs, one earned, in six innings.

Powers also drove in two runs with a double and triple.

Trace Moran added two RBIs and three hits.

The win over Decatur Black followed a 16-6 victory over Paradise in the semifinals. Boyd’s Colton Bruce drove in four runs. Justin Milligan hit a home run and had three RBIs.

Clay Barnett earned the victory, striking out nine in seven innings.

Boyd finished the season at 15-2.
