LADY EAGLES DROP THREE IN TOURNEY

After winning their first two games of the Alvord Tournament the Decatur Lady Eagles lost their last three to drop their overall record to 9-7.

In the final game Saturday, the Decatur Lady Eagles fell to Alvord, 62-29.

“Give Alvord all the credit, they outplayed us from start to finish,” Decatur coach Billy Garner said.

Makayla Mayfield led the way with seven points. Ruth Kirk and Katie Isham each finished with five.

On Friday Decatur fell to Bowie, 56-45. Murphy Graham led the way with 22 and Isham added nine. Shelby Drews tossed in six.

Earlier on Friday the Lady Eagles lost to Lake Country, 43-42. Isham led the way with 18. Drews and Graham each had six.

On Thursday Decatur edged Denison, 37-34. Drews had 27 and Isham had six.

In the opening round of the tournament the Lady Eagles defeated Dallas Gateway, 66-16. Graham led the way with 12 and Mayfield had 11. Traci Hale and Carlee Strapp each added eight.

SISSIES CAPTURE FIRST

Bridgeport won the Venus Tournament over the weekend, defeating Venus in the championship game, 41-36. The Sissies (8-6) held off a late Venus rally to hold on for the victory.

“Our ladies won a hard fought championship game tonight,” Bridgeport coach Dallas Taylor said. “We did a better job of ball security but had a defensive breakdown in the fourth quarter causing it to be a closer game than it should have been.”

Hayley Davidson led the way with eight. Landrie Walsh and Bailey Thompson each added seven.

In the semifinal Bridgeport defeated Diamond Hill, 51-24. Sabrina Garza led the way with 14 and Walsh had 12. Tylar Chapa added 10.

In the opening round the Sissies took care of Palmer 55-30. Walsh led the way again with 12. Thompson, Garza and Elaina Peyton each added nine. Davidson and Lauren Stowers both tossed in six.

LADY JACKETS FINISH THIRD

The Boyd Lady Jackets finished third at the Trinity Valley Tournament over the weekend. Kallie Tyner and Amber Montgomery were named to the all-tournament team.

The Lady Jackets defeated the Fort Worth Nolan JV 46-17 for third place. Tyner led the way with 19 and Kenzie Elkins had nine. Montgomery and Chelsea Elkins each added eight.

Boyd fell to Dallas Christian in the semifinals, 49-31. Tyner had 11 and Montgomery tossed in eight.

The Lady Jackets won their opening round game over Colleyville Covenant, 54-27. Tyner led the way with 18 and Montgomery poured in 15. Kenzie Elkins finished with 10.

Lady Hounds drop two at Perrin Tournament

Slidell fell in the final round of the Perrin Tournament to Graford, 71-40. Caitlin Pruett led the way with 18 and Ashton Stroope had 13. Marisol Millan added four.

In their second game, Slidell fell to Perrin 53-27. Perrin scored the final 18 points of the game to pull away.

The Lady Hounds were led by Kylie Frankin with 14. Milan tossed in six and Stroope added five.

In the opening round Slidell ran past Gordon 35-29. Stroope led the way with 15 and Pruett had seven. Milan and Franklin each added five.

SLIDELL RUNS PAST OPPONENTS

The Slidell Greyhounds (13-2) cruised to the Perrin Tournament championship over the weekend. Slidell won their three games by an average of 37 points.

Scott Bingham and Isaac Davis were named to the all-tournament team. The Greyhounds have been doing all their recent damage without Tyler Maynard, Trent Garrett and Gracjan Pietryka, who have missed the last two weeks due to injuries.

Slidell defeated Perrin in the championship, 46-14. Davis had 19 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Colton Perkins added 10 and Bingham had eight.

The Greyhounds won their semifinal game over Saint Jo, 70-19. Heyden Crane led the way with 17 and Jarrett Tinsman had 16. Davis poured in 14 and Perkins had 10.

In the opening round Slidell defeated Woodson, 70-19. Davis had 14 and Bingham finished with 12. Perkins added nine points and pulled in 11 rebounds. Khristian Talamantes tossed in eight and Tinsman scored seven.

CHICO FINISHES SECOND

Graford edged the Chico Dragons (8-6) in the championship game of the Chico Tournament, 48-46 over the weekend.

Dylan Hightower finished with 19 points and 18 rebounds while Hunter Clarke had 16 points and seven assists.

In the semifinals the Dragons defeated Forestburg, 75-39. Hightower led the way with 29 and Clarke had 23. Hunter York finished with 11 and Dalton Tullos added 10.

Chico opened the tournament with a 77-28 win over Goldburg. Clarke led the way with 23 and Hightower had 18. York finished with 14 and Marshall Anderle tossed in 10.

Boyd takes third

The Boyd Yellowjackets took down Prairie Valley 69-24 in the third place game of the Chico Tournament.

Tanner Rivers was named to the all-tournament team.

Boyd lost to Graford in the semifinals, 60-45 and defeated Forestburg in the first round, 74-29.
