SISSIES CRUSH OLNEY
The Bridgeport Sissies (1-2) picked up their first win of the year Tuesday, with a 55-13 victory over Olney.
Bridgeport ran out to a 38-11 lead in the first half and never looked back.
“We played an aggressive game defensively forcing the other team to turn the ball over more than 20 times,” Bridgeport coach Dallas Taylor said. “These turnovers resulted in multiple fast break opportunities that we were able to take advantage of. This was a good win for our kids.”
Bailey Thompson led the way with 23 points. Landrie Walsh finished with 12 and Sabrina Garza added nine. Lauren Stowers tossed in six. Cheyenne Davidson had two and Allison Price put up one.LADY EAGLES FALL TO ALEDO
Decatur made it interesting in the end but eventually fell to Class 4A Aledo Tuesday, 53-39.
The Lady Eagles trailed 25-18 at the half and started chipping away in the second half. With just over a minute left in the third quarter Decatur’s Shelby Drews tied the game 31-31.
Early in the fourth quarter Aledo took a 36-33, before Traci Hale got Decatur back within one at 36-35.
Aledo took over from that point, ending the game on a 15-4 run to put the game away.
Decatur was led by Drews with 12 points and Murphy Graham with 10. Jasmyne Tate finished with 11. Makayla Mayfied, Stormi Leonard, Haley Dennard and Hale all had two.
ALVORD TAKES CARE OF GODLEY
The No. 8 Lady Bulldogs picked up their first victory of the season, with a 42-29 win over Godley Tuesday.
The game was tied 15-15 at the half, but Alvord outscored the Lady Cats 27-14 in the second half to take the win.
Sam Hahn and Marissa Schedcik each had 10 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Lauren Hart finished with nine and Carley King had six. Ariel Rogers added three. Kandi Rose and Kala Cash each tossed in two.
SLIDELL PULLS AWAY FROM CHICO
Slidell evened up their record at 1-1 with a win over Chico Tuesday. The Lady Hounds used a strong second half to pick up the victory.
Ashton Stroope led the way for Slidell with 18 and Kylie Franklin had 11. Marisol Millan added nine and Caitlin Pruett scored eight.
Chico was led by Cheyenne Hale with 11 and Jordan Vidal had five.
SLIDELL EARNS SOLID WIN OVER CHICO
The Slidell Greyhounds came out strong and was able to hold on for a 63-34 win over Chico Tuesday in both team’s season opener.
Leading 14-8 heading to the second quarter Slidell’s Trent Garrett helped Slidell build a 36-12 lead at the half.
“I was proud of the effort we put up tonight,” Slidell coach Todd McCormick said. “We were able to rotate players without missing a beat. It was a great way to start the season.”
Chico was able to move the ball better in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the Greyhounds, who easily held on for the win.
Chico’s Hunter York and Dylan Hightower finished with a combined 30 points.
Slidell was led by Garrett with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Gracjan Pietryka had 11 and Colton Perkins had eight. Khristian Talamantes, Scott Bingham and Jarrett Tinsman each had six.
