Alvord wins district title

THE CHAMPS - The Alvord 14-and-under team won the ASA Class C District Tournament Sunday in Denton. The Alvord Lady Bulldogs’ 14-and-under softball team continued its undefeated roll and earned a state berth last weekend at the ASA Class C District Tournament in Denton.

The Lady Bulldogs went 4-0 in the tournament. Mikena Mader pitched a no-hitter in the championship game as Alvord won 11-1.

Alvord opened the event with a 3-2 win over the Lewisville Battitude. The Lady Bulldogs took down the Sanger Intimidators 2-0. They beat Cooke County Lonestar 2-1 in the semifinals.

Coach Larry Mader Jr. praised the work of his entire team throughout the tournament.

The Alvord squad went 11-0 in the Wise County League before advancing to the district tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs will play in the state tournament in McKinney June 15-17.
