Young man’s candidacy gives hope

By Aaron Renaud | Published Saturday, September 29, 2012

I opened my paper the other day and was instantly filled with hope when I noticed that Decatur alumnus Matthew Britt was running for the Texas House of Representatives.

I believe that we as a community can take back this state from the various interests that work to undo the American dream. If we want to put a stop to political and industrial corruption, we need to rally behind active members of our community this November.

If we want to put an end to the decline we’ve seen for the past decade or so, we need to vote out people like Phil King. I urge you not to vote straight-ticket and instead vote for Matthew Britt this election.

Vote for real people who really care.

  1. I’m sure that young Matthew Britt is a fine, well educated individual.

But, he has no life experience outside college. He has no business or elected experience.

How can a 21 year old successfully represent his constitutents when he doesn’t have any idea about life?????

  2. Tracy Smith says:

I will be voting for Britt, without any political experience whatsoever, he can only represent his constituency, unlike what we’ve seen with Phil King.

  3. To Bart….So your saying he has no experience of taking money from special interest groups in being in someones back pocket. Let me see, I think he is just what we need.

  4. Bart, the president of our country didn’t have much more experience that Matthew has. Well, maybe that’s a bad example since we know how that has ended. I’m sure Mr. Britt will do fine. We need more “unseasoned” people in public office and less politicians.
