I was somewhat shocked and surprised that the Messenger would even print the recent letter by Mr. Hughes, when it was so obviously full of error. I would even go so far to say that, as a practicing Catholic, I was actually offended. In my opinion, the lame footnote at the end of the letter was not adequate.

I think the Messenger owes an apology.
