Thanks to emergency personnel, volunteers

By Franklin Bryant, Ruth Bradley, Betty Jones | Published Wednesday, December 12, 2012

In this time when the public is so quick to demonstrate for one reason or another against our police officers and their work, my sisters and my wife and I would like to demonstrate. We want to demonstrate our sincere appreciation to the Bridgeport Police Department, the Bridgeport Fire Department and numerous volunteers who came Dec. 7 to help locate our brother who had wandered out into the countryside and become disoriented and did not know how to find his way back home.

The officers who first responded to our house were courteous, efficient and well-trained. A command post was set up and an organized hunt for our brother was begun. Fortunately, he was soon found and returned home with only minor scratches he experienced in an encounter with bushes and barbed wire.

The police and fire department personnel were as efficient and well-trained as any response expected from a larger metropolitan department.

Words cannot express our gratitude to all who assisted in this effort. Again, we say thank you and God bless you.

Good post and I might add that ALL the law enforcement personnel and Emergency responders in Wise County and elsewhere deserve our sincere thanks and appreciation for the great job that they do year round for all of us.
