Brandon Evans, thanks for the article on the Wise County Old Settlers Reunion. You did a great job of covering the current reunion, which has been a tradition for years, but also did your research about the history of the reunion.

Not just mine but a lot of our ancestors came to Wise County before and after the Civil War. Most were Confederate veterans but there were some Union veterans as well. They came here mostly from the South but also Missouri. They just wanted to leave the past behind.

We are blessed that they came to Wise County to start their new lives. Thanks for researching the history and reporting it accurately. You did an awesome job!
