When I read in a letter to the editor that “America is not, in any way, founded on the Christian religion,” I was heartsick.
All of my life I have believed that this nation was “under God.” But then I thought, ‘Wait a minute. We are not Christians because we live in America. We are Christians because we believe God’s word – the Bible.’ We trust in the Almighty God to watch over and care for us.
It is disappointing to me that many of our leaders today do not believe what I do about God, but that does not change the truth. I do not know what’s going to happen to our country, but I know I am safe in the hands of Almighty God.
By the way, if you will go to tektonics.org, you will find an entirely different view of the Treaty of Tripoli.

Linda,
Do you think the Indians, who we slaughtered -infants, women and the elderly in the name of “our” Christianity while “stealing” their country and committing genocide against them, would support your beliefs as to this nation being founded upon “Christian Principles???
Oh brother! So now our fore fathers are atheist baby killers. The stupidity of the comments is amazing. This from the same person who sees killer bees. Probably put here by evil Christians to convert him.Every American has a constatutional right to be stupid and boy do some use it!
Linda we are Christians because we belive, but no matter how many uninformed fools scream we are not a Christian nation it does not and will not make it true.
Cody,
As usual and sadly typical, do you deny the “Documented History” of what was done to the Indians? Do you deny that their children were taken by force and put in to schools ( prison camps) in an attempt to “force” them to convert to Christianity? Care to show everybody where I claimed our fore father were “atheist”? But “”ANY”" 5th grader can find in our history books where our fore fathers “SLAUGHTERED” whole villages of Infants, women, men and the elderly, FACT!!! You want to call some one stupid, when you show your “selective ” ignorance as to the atrocities committed against the Indians, GO FIGURE???
As for the “killer bees”, not my report it was from my neighbor and the bee keeper who came to remove them. So there again your childish attempt to slander me has failed again, sorry for your luck!:) You might want to call Brandon at the WCM, he came out to the neighbors house and toke some pictures and some of the dead bees, was supposedly going to do a follow up story?
When you can grow up and have an adult conversations without all these childish attacks and BS, feel free to come on back!:)
Amen Linda, Please don’t get bothered about comments concerning your editorial. Some people have a chip on their shoulders the size of the large red woods in California. They are angry about everything. I actually feel sorry for them. It’s hard to tell whether they are angry at God, at something that happened in the past, or just pain angry at life in general.
Diane,
Simply asked a “truth based” and history documented fact, why would you and others avoid answering it honestly, instead of making claims of one being angry at “God”? You would be correct I have a “real” problem with those “claiming” to be of faith using it weapon and a tool for their own “worldly agendas”, FACT!
If you really knew me, your unwarranted assumption could not be farther from the truth, I’m known as the joker and the life of the party or any get together. At 60 feel I have had a full life and a hel* of a ride, worked in several different countries and my word is still good around the world!
Sorry if your assumption of me having a chip, or a problem with “God” or angry at life has no merit, but that is your “story” to spin!:) I have never had a problem with the “Almighty” the problem has always been with “His” fan club WRONGFULLY claiming to acting in “His” name and “His” blessing!
Going to Mexico fishing so any more comments will be a while in coming, ya’ll enjoy the break from one who does not blindly follow!:):):)
Rusty,
I hope you enjoy your fishing trip. Since women did not have the right to vote, or not too much say so at the founding of American, please know it was not the Christian ladies like Linda who where responsible for what happened. You will need to address the men about that.
Diane
Rusty–Diane didn’t say you or anyone else was angry with God. She said “It’s hard to tell whether they are angry at God, at something that happened in the past, or just pain angry at life in general.” Read it again.
Now for my question….what can we do about what was done to the Native Americans except learn from it? Are we supposed to nullify everything that the founding fathers wanted because of it? Why do you bring it up as a defense, excuse or justification to whatever you are trying to defend, excuse or justify? We cannot go back in time and change anything.
And with regard to assumptions and “spin” about you? Your letters ARE filled with anger. There is nothing else anyone can take from them except that. You may be the life of the party and a joker but one would never EVER guess that from your writings.
Amen Johnna! I wish Rusty well, and have no ill will toward him, but he has made sending letters to the editor a very unpleasant experience. I truly hope he is enjoying his fishing trip as we ladies enjoy the break.
Every “religion” stresses “faith” in their system of “belief”. Why is that word one hears all the time in every gathering in church, temple, mosque, and gathering of the ‘faithful” so important? Simple, there is no, nada, zilch, zero, evidence of a physical nature. If there was the slightest dust mote of objectively supported evidence that any of the “belief” systems were real, the faith word would fly out the window faster than the speed of light.
I, as well as almost of my close friends, live a life based on reason, objectivity and evidence, and in the place of faith we have confidence in what has been tested and proved to be real; moreover, we are presently 16% of and a rapidly growing segment of the American population!
Ok folks break is over!:)
Diane,
Thanks, we had a great time. I hold no ill will towards anybody, life is way to short to waste on such an agenda.:) In an open forum “everybody” has the same right to their opinions and beliefs, do they not? Those not willing to accept others comments should not post anything, should they? Wish you all the luck in the world!:)
Johnna,
You would be correct there is nothing we can do about the past but learn from it. “”BUT”" we must also tell the truth about it, do we not? There were many good things accomplished by those that came before us. Yet many attempt to try and avoid the wrongs of our past thereby “cherry picking” our history to attempt to justify their beliefs. The question I asked was honest as is the documented evidence, was it not??? I’ll ask you the same question, do you believe the Indians believe this country was founded upon Christian principals and values?
I’ll go out on a limb by saying this, there is no doubt that many ( not all) of those before us were strong believers. “””BUT””” the “supposed” believers of today are a “Far Cry” from those of our past, and their actions and deeds of today sadly prove me correct! IMHO
