On Monday, Dec. 10, Decatur High School was evacuated due to a bomb threat. All students were removed from the building. Per the district’s evacuation protocol, all students were placed in a safe location, and all students were accounted for in a timely manner. To my knowledge, no students were left unattended in the high school building nor were any students required to walk more than a quarter-mile.
Due to student confidentiality laws and to protect the privacy of our students, I am not at liberty to discuss individual students; however as superintendent, I can assure our community that the Decatur ISD continually strives to maintain a safe and secure environment.
