Class of ’59 reminisces

By Ann Kaker | Published Saturday, July 14, 2012

This past week, members of the DHS Class of 1959 gathered at the beautiful country home of (Mary) Ann and Robert Troxell in Newark. Memories filled the air with stories about the old three-story elementary school, where the group attended grades one through eight, and then the wonderful ol’ halls of high school.

It was the decided opinion of the group that growing up in Decatur and our school years spent there were the golden years of youth. Our teachers were fondly remembered, and we realized what an impact they had on our lives.

Many of the class members were not able to attend and were missed by all as their names were read. Those who attended and enjoyed the delicious lunch provided by our hostess were Pat Fennell, Jan Pitts, Millie Doughtry, Sandra Nobles, Patt Spoede, Joy Litoon, Olivia Ann Gasperson, Linda Bishop, Dannes and Phil Luker, Bob Carter, Shirley Jo and Jerry Watson, Ann Kaker and Ann Troxell, hostess.
