Do you think there should be a law against texting while driving in Texas?

“I think texting while driving is just as dangerous as DWI. Both instances take away your ability from being able to drive the vehicle. You’re probably going to see the stats go up as we go along.”

– Steve Stanford, 36, of Bridgeport

“We need something. There’s too many wrecks with kids. Every time you hear of a wreck you hear texting is involved. It’s distracting. Something needs to be done, but I don’t know what.”

– Kelly Garrett, 51, of Bridgeport

“I feel that while someone is driving, they shouldn’t be texting because you can’t pay attention to the road and text at the same time.”

– Patrick Krebs, 52, of Bridgeport

“I don’t think you should use your phone at all while driving. I think a law against it could be beneficial. It’s distracting. You have enough distractions going on anyway in your vehicle and on the roadway.”

– Michael Smith, 37, of Bridgeport

  1. I was watching a women in the lane next to me texting while driving while coming into Rhome yesterday on Highway 287. She was doing 60-65 mph while reading something on her phone. As she appeared and disappeared in my view she never looked up once. It had to be 10 seconds or more for me to do that as I was doing the legal speed limit of 70 mph. Now if your traveling 60 mph you doing 88 feet per second. So say she did not look up for 10 seconds, that’s 880 feet. What could have been in 880 feet? Several cars, a few tractor trailers, truck load of gasoline, bus load of students from the Middle School. She was a menace and danger to everyone on the road. She also a future candidate for the Darwin Award
