CHAMBER LUNCHEON – The Bridgeport Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon is 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Bridgeport Community Center. Mike McCoy with Weatherford College will speak on the “State of the Economy.” Cost is $10. RSVP by Wednesday, Sept. 19 by calling (940) 683-2076 or email tiffanyevans@bridgeportchamber.org.

RED CROSS MEETING – Wise County Red Cross meets 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at 1101 W. Rose Ave., in Decatur. Everyone wishing to volunteer is welcome.

PIONEER DAYS – Parade entrees and applicants for the Ugly Man Contest and the Little Miss Pioneer Pageant are needed for Rhome Pioneer Days, which is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 21 and 22. Other events include a barbecue cookoff, antique car and tractor show, live music, old-time blacksmith show, craft and food vendors, old west shoot out, cow-patty bingo, jail-a-friend and street dance. FALL FESTIVAL – Stagecoach Rehabilitation will host a fall festival 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at 2108 15th St. in Bridgeport. There will be a bounce house, super-size slide, obstacle course, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, carnival games and prizes. For information, call (940) 683-8500.

HOMECOMING PARADE – Chico homecoming parade is 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, around the downtown square. The theme is Chico Goes Wild: A Homecoming Carnival, and floats are encouraged to be decorated with anything related to carnivals, circuses, animals, clowns, ringmasters and games.
