MCNORTON CHILDREN ACCOUNT – An account for the three young children of Samantha Jo McNorton has been opened at Legend Bank. Donations may be made at any Legend Bank location.


EAT WITH SANTA – Breakfast with Santa is 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Bridgeport Community Center. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for kids at the door (cash and check only). No advance tickets available.

LIGHTED PARADE – Bridgeport’s lighted Christmas parade is 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, in historic downtown. This year’s theme is Winter Wonderland, and all entries must be lighted. Deadline to enter is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4. For an application or more information, call (940) 683-3404.


ANGEL GARDEN – The angel garden will be lit Saturday, Dec. 1. Bring your lighted angel with remembrance plaque, four tent stakes and an outside extension cord. Angels will remain on the Square until Saturday, Jan. 5. For more information, call Tammy Sosa at (940) 393-1726.


ANGELS AVAILABLE – Angels for the Decatur Spirit of Christmas are now available for adoption at each of the nine financial institutions in town. This year, the Decatur campaign adopted the voucher system Bridgeport implemented last year.

PARADE OF LIGHTS – The Parade of Lights in Decatur is Saturday, Dec. 1. Line-up begins at 5 p.m., judging is at 5:30, and the parade begins at 6:30. It will pass through the Decatur Square. Call the Decatur Chamber of Commerce at (940) 627-3107 for more information. Stores citywide will be open late and Santa Claus will be on the Square to visit with children.

TOUR OF HOMES – The Decatur Women’s Club Tour of Homes is 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2. Tickets cost $15 and are on sale at iCopy in Decatur, North Texas Bank, Patti’s Hair Parlor & Etc. and all Decatur Women’s Club members. Four TAPS buses will offer transportation to each of the stops on the tour for an additional $10. Reserve your seat now at Patti’s Hair Parlor, where the bus will also pick up riders at 12:30 p.m. the day of the tour. From 1 to 6 p.m., businesses on the Square will offer special promotions and discounts to Tour of Homes ticketholders.

AUXILIARY DRAWING – The Wise Regional Hospital Auxiliary will have a drawing for a $500 bag of money Dec. 3. Raffle tickets are on sale for $1 each or six for $5 and can be purchased in the hospital lobby or gift shop or from a volunteer.


CHAMBER MEETING – The Paradise Chamber of Commerce will have its board meeting noon Thursday, Nov. 29, at the Bridgeport Country Club. All members are asked to attend and vote for next year’s directors. For more information, call (940) 433-3288.


TOY RUN – The 13th Annual Wise County Toy Run and Motorcycle Rally is Sunday, Dec. 2. It starts at the McCarroll Middle School parking lot in Decatur with registration at 10 a.m. The ride begins at 12:30 p.m. rain or shine and ends at Harwood Park in Bridgeport, where participants are treated to Willie’s “famous chili.” Participants should each bring a new, unwrapped toy or $10. Biker Santa will attend the event, and there will also be a 50/50 raffle, auction and raffle for an enclosed 14-foot trailer. Tickets are available at Bridgeport Automotive. If you can’t make the event, toys may be dropped off at P&H Muffler Shop and Bridgeport Automotive. Donations can be mailed to Wise County Toy Run, P.O. Box 891, Bridgeport, TX 76431. RELAY ROUNDUP – New team roundup for Relay for Life of Wise County is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at the Hampton Inn in Decatur. Those interested in forming a team are encouraged to attend. For more information, contact event chair Stephanie Kott at or (940) 393-3165.
