WATER RESTRICTION LIFTED – The city of Decatur lifted its watering restrictions Friday, May 4, following the same move from the Tarrant Regional Water District. The restrictions were put in place last summer, which limited watering to three days per week.
OFFICE HOURS – Chico City Hall will not open until 1 p.m. today, so that the city staff can attend the funeral for Mary Lu Harris, mother of Code Enforcement Officer Coit Harris. If you have any questions, call City Hall at (940) 644-2435.
PROJECT GRADUATION – Boyd Project Graduation will have a fundraiser from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Cici’s Pizza in Decatur. Turn your receipt in to the box provided at the door, and the restaurant will donate 10 percent back to Project Graduation.
POST OFFICE FOOD DRIVE – The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and the Decatur Post Office will host the NALC Annual Food Drive of non-perishable goods to benefit Wise Area Relief Mission and needy citizens in our area. People can leave canned and boxed goods and other items at the mailbox Saturday, May 12, and the postal service will pick them up. Both city and rural carriers will participate.

FFA PLANT SALE – Decatur FFA will sell plants Saturday, May 12, at the Exxon at U.S. 81/287 and Farm Road 51 until 1 p.m. The sale will feature annuals, perennials, hanging baskets and color bowls. Prices have been reduced. All plants have been grown and produced by students in the Decatur agriculture /horticulture program.
CEMETERY MEETING – The annual meeting of the Pleasant Grove No. 1 Cemetery Association is 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12. A covered dish luncheon will follow the business meeting.

DECATUR KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP – Decatur school district is holding an information and registration session for parents with children enrolling in kindergarten for the 2012-13 school year. It will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at Carson, Rann and Young elementary schools.
ALVORD KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP – Pre-K and Kindergarten Roundup at Alvord Elementary started this week and runs through May 18, 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. daily, at the elementary office. To register for Pre-K, students must be 4 years old by Sept. 1, and kindergarteners must be 5 by the same date. STUDENT PERFORMANCE – JOY Christian Academy Students will perform “Godspell Junior” May 11-12 and May 18-19 at the Wise County Heritage Museum Theater. BENEFIT GOLF TOURNAMENT – Boy Scout Troop 121 and Decatur Lions Club will hold their annual benefit golf tournament Saturday, May 12, at the Decatur Country Club. Shotgun start is 8 a.m. for the two-person scramble. Registration is at 7:30. Entry fee is $50 per person and includes green fee, cart, lunch and door prize ticket. Mulligans and additional door prize tickets will be available. Contests include longest drive, straightest drive, closest to the pin and a putting contest. Sponsorship opportunities are available. REPUBLICANS MEET – The monthly Wise County Republican meeting is 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 14, on the second floor of the Wise County Courthouse. D.A. Sharpe, former Wise County Republican Chair, will report on his recent Israel trip. The meeting will also feature an update on the Republican State Convention and will offer a chance to meet current local candidates.
LIBRARY PARTY – The Decatur Public Library invites children of all ages to the debut party for the library’s new juvenile graphic novel collection 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 15. More than 50 new graphic novel titles will be added to the children’s collection. The party will include games, snacks and activities. This is a come-and-go event.
