CAR WASH FUNDRAISER – The Boyd varsity 7-on-7 football team is having a car wash 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at First Financial Bank in Boyd to raise money for the state 7-on-7 tournament.
JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION – A Juneteenth celebration is 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Louida Willis Park in Decatur. There will be a live DJ, bounce house, bake sale, and hamburgers and hot dogs will be served. For information, call Mike Bell at (940) 627-9082.
MOVIE AT THE POOL – Bridgeport Parks and Recreation presents Bridgeport Box Office Night at the Bridgeport City Pool Saturday featuring “Happy Feet Two.” Admission is $1. FATHERPALOOZA – A Father’s Day celebration featuring a car show that includes classic cars, muscles cars, motorcycles, ATV’s and a New York City fire engine that was used in the aftermath of the 9-11 attacks will be on display 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Sunday, June 17, at Grace Fellowship in Paradise.

DEMOCRAT MEETING – The Wise County Democrats meet at 7 p.m. Monday, June 18, in the second floor courtroom of the Wise County Courthouse in Decatur. A Democratic State Convention update will be given.
FOSSILS, ROCKS AND MINERALS – The Wise County Fossil, Rock and Mineral Society meets 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at the Sheriff’s Office conference/training room, 200 Rook Ramsey Dr., in Decatur. VOLUNTEER MEETING – American Red Cross will meet 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at the EMS Building, 1101 W. Rose St., in Decatur. The meeting is open to anyone who volunteers for Red Cross or who is interested in becoming a volunteer.
MOBILE MAMMOGRAPHY – The Moncrief Cancer Center Mobile Mammography Unit will offer fully-funded mammograms at Alvord City Hall Saturday, June 23, by appointment. For more information or to schedule a mammogram, call (800) 405-7739.

BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT – The Samantha Jill Rogers Memorial Scholarship Fund will host its first 3-on-3 basketball tournament Friday, June 29, at the Alvord High School gym. Check-in is at 4 p.m., and play begins at 5. Cost is $140 per adult team or $100 per youth team. All entries must be received by noon June 28. Divisions will be by age group, and division winners will receive prizes. Free-throw and three-point contest winners will also receive a prize. 4TH FEST – 4th Fest Runaway Bay is 6 p.m. Saturday, June 30. Activities include a golf tournament, golf cart parade, cake raffle, karaoke stage, Bridgeport Lions Train for kids, food, prizes and games.
FIRECRACKER SCRAMBLE – The 7th annual Firecracker Scramble benefiting the Runaway Bay Volunteer Fire Department is Saturday, June 30, at The Club at Runaway Bay. Registration is 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Entry fee is $50, and you may form your own four-person team or sign up individually and be placed on a team. Sponsorship levels are $200 for a team and $100 for a sign. Prizes include longest putt and bullseye, and mulligans and raffle tickets will also be available. There will be free food on the course provided by Complete Production Services. RUNAWAY BAY FIRE RAFFLE – Tickets for a raffle benefiting the Runaway Bay Fire Department are $5 per ticket or five for $20. Prizes include a rifle, a gas grill, a fishing tour, a skull mount, deer or hog processing and an oil change. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – The Chico Public Library needs volunteers for its renovation project July 18-23. Library Board President Michelle Slonaker said they need people who can tape and bed drywall and texture walls, and they will also need a volunteer with a truck or trailer to haul items to the dump and to storage. Volunteers are also needed to paint and help move furniture, plus complete other odd jobs. If you can help, call the library at (940) 644-2330.
IMMUNIZATION CLINIC – Texas Department of State Health Services is having an immunization clinic Tuesday, July 10, at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur, 104 S. Miller. TRANSFER APPLICATIONS – Boyd ISD is currently accepting applications for Inter-District Transfer students for the 2012-13 school year. Applications are available at the BISD administrative offices and online at www.boydisd.net. The deadline to submit applications is Aug. 1.
HONOR A TEACHER – The Decatur ISD Education Foundation is providing parents and students the opportunity to honor outstanding teachers. When sending a contribution to the Decatur ISD Education Foundation, you may designate any teacher in the district to receive a card and Foundation Award pin.
