OPPOSITION AND REPAIRS – The Runaway Bay City Council joined other cities in stating their opposition to the Environmental Protection Agency’s designation of Wise County as a non-attainment area Tuesday, approving a resolution – initiated by county officials – reflective of its stance. Council members also awarded a $36,515 contract to Marine Development Inc. for storm damage and general repairs at Marina B1. The council tabled an amendment to a water lease agreement with Verizon Wireless pending further research.
ALVORD OPEN ENROLLMENT – Alvord ISD is accepting applications for limited open enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year. RHOME LIBRARY ACTIVITIES – The Summer Blitz Reading Program has begun for youth of all ages at the Rhome Library. Prizes will be awarded to top readers in each age division. Contest will end at the close of the summer. The library is also holding a poster contest for all ages. Posters will be displayed in the library and must be turned in by July 31 with name and phone number on the back. A book sale is also going on all summer.
