Melton Tucker Jr., 45, of Montague was killed in a car accident north of Alvord just before 6 Monday morning.

DPS Trooper Greg Reyero said Tucker was southbound on U.S. 287 when the vehicle veered left for unknown reasons and hit a guardrail one mile north of Alvord.

Tucker was the only occupant in the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze.

Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Clay Poynor pronounced him dead at the scene.
