A 40-year-old man lost his life in a car accident south of Boyd early Sunday morning.

Chad J. Demory, who had been living in Boyd only six months, was driving north on Farm Road 730 South at 2:30 a.m. when his car left the roadway near County Road 4868, just north of Briar Road.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson, Trooper Lonny Haschel, said the 2000 Pontiac sedan hit a steel post after running off the road for unknown reasons. Demory died at the scene.

His mother, Denise Demory, said her son had worked in the oilfield for years but was disabled and had been living with her and his father, Lloyd.

“He loved to fish, and he and his dad went daily,” she said. “He also liked hanging out with his sister and brother-in-law (Taya and Jay Chancey) and his nephews. They live next door.

“He loved his family and liked to be with them.”

Trooper Haschel said the accident is still under investigation. DPS was assisted at the scene by the Boyd Police Department and Wise County Sheriff’s Department.
